Polish Union of Active Mobility (PUMA)
The Polish Union of Active Mobility (Polish acronym - PUMA) is an innovation oriented, covering all Poland, organisation of local governments – towns, cities, communes and poviats interested in improvement of conditions and promotion of all forms of active mobility. It has been established and has its official seat in the city of Gdansk.
The basic aim of the association is the improvement of conditions and promotion of active mobility, that is all forms of satisfying the daily transport needs assuming the use of natural human energy, either by itself or in combination with public transport means, such as e.g. walking, cycling or roller skating.
PUMA realises its statutory aims first of all acquiring extrastructural funds of the EU within international project consortia. They are devoted to activities influencing the improvement of the quality of public space and living conditions as well as enhancing the investment, recreational and tourist attractiveness of areas subordinated to the jurisdiction of its members.
Currently the PUMA associates 13 ordinary members: City of Gdansk, Gdynia, Elblag, Tczew, Starogard Gdanski, Malbork , Pruszcz Gdanski, Communes of Trabki Wielkie, Nowy Staw, Cedry Wielkie, Przywidz, Smoldzino and Poviat Leborski, including within the scope of its activities over 1,1 million residents of Poland.
