Hanseatic City of Rostock

The Hanseatic City of Rostock is the biggest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is located on the Baltic Sea on the axis Berlin – Copenhagen and Hamburg – Stettin. In 2018 Rostock will be 800 years old. However the city ist very young and dynamic. We have more than 200,000 inhabitants and 14,000 students. The oldest northern european university was founded here in 1419. Today it is still a necleus for research and science.

Rostock as port city has also economic relevance, growth industries are located, especially maritime technologies, bio- and medical technologie, aerospace industry and wind energy. But Rostock is not only a city of science and business, it is also a tourist centre, with the wonderful beach of Warnemünde. Nears the one million mark tourists visit Rostock per year. With 180 calls of ships notified in 2012 Rostock-Warnemünde is a popular cruise port.

Rostock as one partner of the ELMOS project want to achieve the aim, to develop the multimodal transport. To promote the electro mobility in Rostock the municipality will establish an electric mobility action plan together with the local companys.
