City of Växjö
The City of Växjö, in the centre of south Sweden, has 83,000 inhabitants. The city is a region capital with one university and has a lot of SME sized companies. Växjö has been called “the Greenest City in Europe” by BBC because the city has managed to cut there CO2 emissions per inhabitant by 34% between 1993 and 2009, to a level of 3000 kg per inhabitant. In 1996, the city council in Växjö decided unanimously to become a Fossil Fuel Free community (in 2010 it was decided that the target shall be reached by 2030). In ELMOS we like to introduce E-mobility with a system of pedelects in combination with public transport. We will combine it with a bike rental system. We hope the system will attract the citizens and will contribute to the goal to become a fossil free city.
